Despite underwhelming reviews from a premiere in Cannes that left it ranked among the studio's worst releases to date, the latest Pixar feature is still something to look forward to, especially for families during the summer months. Peter Sohn (The Good Dinosaur) directs this story about fire element Ember Lumen (voiced by Leah Lewis) and water element Wade Ripple (Mamoudou Athie) whose relationship challenges the status quo in Element City, where fire-, water-, land- and air-residents all live together. While critics complained about the rote story, many still saw moments of that old Pixar magic.
