This modern western from writer-director Rodrigo Sorogoyen (Madre) and co-writer Isabel Peña follows Antoine and Olga (Denis Ménochet and Marina Foïs), a French couple trying to start up an organic farm in an isolated village in Spain. When they refuse to sell their land to a wind energy company, their dream turns to conflict with the locals in the form of brothers Xan (Luis Zahera) and Lorenzo (Diego Anido). Inspired by a true story, this haunting examination of gentrification, fear, and violence was nominated for seventeen Goyas (Spain’s equivalent of the Oscars), taking home nine, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Lead Actor for Ménochet, and Best Supporting Actor for Zahera.
