The fifth film in the Insidious series, following James Wan’s Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2, Leigh Whannell’s prequel Insidious: Chapter 3, and a second prequel directed by Adam Robitel (Insidious: The Last Key), journeys back to The Further with Patrick Wilson’s Josh Lambert and his son Dalton (a now college-aged Ty Simpkins reprising his role). While Whannell supplied the story for the film, it’s the first he hasn’t at least co-written, with screenwriting duties instead falling to Scott Teems (Halloween Kills). Wilson, also one of the stars of The Conjuring series, makes his directorial debut with this story of a family (Rose Byrne also returns as Renai Lambert) facing their dark past.
