Rom-com | Directed by Kenya Barris
Streams on Netflix beginning January 27
Kenya Barris (Black-ish) makes his feature directing debut with this comedy about a couple, Ezra and Amira (played by Jonah Hill and Lauren London), who must navigate blending their disparate families. Ezra’s progressive Jewish parents (Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny) share one thing in common with Amira’s concerned Muslim parents (Eddie Murphy and Nia Long): the ability to meddle in their children’s lives. Written by Barris and Hill, this culture-clash comedy could get by just on the comedic chops of its cast, which also includes Elliot Gould, Mike Epps, Sam Jay, and Rhea Perlman.
