Writer-director Mia Hansen-Løve’s follow-up to Bergman Island won the Best European Film Prize at the 2022 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight. Already a Metacritic Must-See, this story of a single mother (Léa Seydoux) trying to balance her father’s progressing dementia and a complicated new love affair is a return to France and a return to form for Hansen-Løve, who seems to have found the perfect partner in Seydoux, resulting in her best reviews since 2016’s Things to Come, another portrait made up of minute details with a beautifully complex performance at its center.
