Writer-director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Happy Death Day 2U, Freaky) has taken his horror-comedy talents to Netflix for this adaptation of Geoff Manaugh’s short story, Ernest. David Harbour plays a ghost named Ernest who is discovered by Kevin (Jahi Di'Allo Winston) and his family (Anthony Mackie, Erica Ash, Niles Fitch) after they move into a new house hoping to get a fresh start. That fresh start comes in the form of internet celebrity, as Ernest gathers an immense social media following (Jennifer Coolidge gets in on the fun as a kooky medium). When Kevin and his friend Joy (Isabella Russo) try to help Ernest investigate his past, they become targets of the CIA, led by Tig Nataro.
