Netflix famously refuses to disclose viewership numbers for any of its original programs, but by all accounts this British series adaptation of Charles Forsman's graphic novel is one of the streaming service's biggest—and most surprising—hits of 2018. Critics also love it. The eight-episode dramedy follows a teen couple on a road trip. The catch? The guy (Alex Lawther, The Imitation Game) is a bit of a psychopath, and he intends to kill the girl (Jessica Barden, Penny Dreadful) at the conclusion of their journey. While a follow-up season has not yet been confirmed, series creator Charlie Covell just received the greenlight for her second Netflix series, KAOS, which will offer a modern day take on Greek mythology.
“The twisted, efficient story that The End tells is a nicely contained thing that requires no additional embellishment, and it should be binged and cherished in its tart glory.” —Dan Fienberg, The Hollywood Reporter
