The Best PlayStation Games of 2022
Which PS5 and PS4 games impressed professional reviewers the most during the past year? We rank the best-reviewed PlayStation titles released between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 by Metascore. Games must have at least 7 reviews from professional critics to be eligible for inclusion. If a game appears on both PlayStation platforms, only the version receiving the higher quantity of critic reviews (typically the PS5 version) is eligible for inclusion. (All scores listed here are from December 31, 2022.)
(#2) The concluding chapter in CD Projekt's wildly popular Witcher action-RPG series was originally released (for previous-generation hardware) in 2015. That year, it won just about every Game of the Year award in existence (except from some weird site called Metacritic, where it finished just behind Metal Gear Solid V). A few weeks ago, Wild Hunt came to the next generation of hardware for the first time. Is it still a great game in its PS5 version? The answer is a clear yes, despite a few day-one bugs. The fact that it's a free upgrade for owners of the PS4 version also doesn't hurt.
“The upgraded edition takes what made the 2015 version so loved and throws it into the new generation with so much care that it feels like a different game while maintaining the backbone of the original. The improvements are executed flawlessly, and I can see myself pouring an additional 100 hours or more into this universe now that it can compare to other next-gen games.” —Attack of the Fanboy
