25 Best Horror Films of the Past Decade
Looking for some scares this spooky season? Our list above is all treats, no tricks: It includes the 25 best-reviewed horror films of the 2010s, ranked by Metascore.
After tackling the serial killer/police procedural (The Chaser) and the revenge thriller/gangster film (The Yellow Sea), Korean director Na Hong-jin dove head first into horror with this story of an investigator’s search for the truth behind the unusual deaths in a quiet, rural village. Suspicion falls on a Japanese stranger, but that’s just the beginning of this tense, violent, and bleak film. Yes, it’s long (156 minutes), as is Na’s inclination, but it’s also ceaselessly entertaining, surprisingly funny, and finally haunting.
“The film is a bullet train of laughs, gore, frights and folklore, making the two-and-a-half hour runtime feel like a couple of minutes.” —Nikola Grozdanovic, The Playlist
