25 Best Horror Films of the Past Decade
Looking for some scares this spooky season? Our list above is all treats, no tricks: It includes the 25 best-reviewed horror films of the 2010s, ranked by Metascore.
A cursed dress is at the center of this clever riff on giallo horror from British director Peter Strickland. His second film to make this list still isn’t his all-time best (that would be non-horror feature The Duke of Burgundy), but Strickland, no stranger to fetishes, condemns consumerism with the stylistic flourishes the genre allows while also embracing the comedy inherent in a story about an evil red dress.
“The film spaces out several nasty and effective frights. And as its narrative seems to deliberately devolve into a dissociative dream, even the funny material hits with a choke in the throat.” —Glenn Kenny, The New York Times
