25 Best Horror Films of the Past Decade
Looking for some scares this spooky season? Our list above is all treats, no tricks: It includes the 25 best-reviewed horror films of the 2010s, ranked by Metascore.
Written and directed by Severin Fiala & Veronika Franz, this creepy film about the disintegrating trust between a mother and her children stars brothers Elias and Lucas Schwarz as nine-year-old twins who welcome their mother home after cosmetic surgery. With her face completely bandaged, the inseparable brothers begin to suspect she is not their mother. It’s a dread-filled, viscerally unsettling experience even before the twist ending. This year, Fiala and Franz had less success playing with similar tropes in The Lodge.
“It’s a masterful example of genre filmmaking’s ability to transcend its limitations, leaving a viewer not just frightened, but also changed.” —Michael O’Sullivan, Washington Post
