Below is our list of the 15 best-reviewed debut albums of 2016, ranked by Metascore. Note that albums must have at least 7 reviews—and be a full LP, rather than an EP—to be eligible for inclusion. Albums are ranked by Metascore prior to rounding.
(Atlantic/Bread Winner's Association) This one may be a bit of a cheat; 30-year-old Louisiana rapper (and celebrity Instagrammer) Kevin Gates has been active for over a decade, releasing numerous mixtapes (including this year's Murder for Hire II). But Islah, his first full studio album, serves as his official debut, and it has sold over one million copies since its release early this year.
