Actor Randall Park makes his feature directorial debut with this adaptation of Adrian Tomine’s graphic novel. With a screenplay by Tomine, Shortcomings follows Ben (After Yang’s Justin H. Min), a struggling filmmaker, Miko (Ally Maki), his well-off and more ambitious girlfriend, and his best friend Alice (Joy Ride's Sherry Cola) as they fall in and out of love with various partners, first in Berkeley, California and then in New York City. Reviews from the film's premiere at Sundance were positive, highlighting the ability of Park and his cast to deliver something charming, funny and insightful.
