The latest from Japanese writer-director Kôji Fukada (Harmonium, The Real Thing) is a drama about how different members of a family deal with grief after a tragic accident. Sharing a title with and inspired by Akiko Yano’s song “Love Life,” the film is built from long, quiet takes as Taeko, her husband Jiro, and her Korean ex-husband Park, who is deaf and homeless, struggle to communicate with each other across vast emotional distances that belie their physical proximity.
