10 Films to See in August
August may not be a strong month for quality blockbuster releases—just look at the advance reviews for Suicide Squad, for example—but that doesn't mean there won't be anything good to see in theaters. Below, we pick out the month's most promising new films, including several Sundance hits.
In this raunchy, R-rated, CG-animated movie, supermarket foods realize their horrifying fate when they’re taken home by happy customers to be sliced, diced, and consumed in a variety of graphic ways. When it was shown at SXSW as a work in progress, this twisted, foul-mouthed riff on a Pixar film—written by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Ariel Shaffir and Kyle Hunter (who worked in various capacities on This Is the End and The Night Before) and featuring voice work by Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Michael Cera, Paul Rudd, Edward Norton, Bill Hader and Salma Hayek—earned a warm reception.
