Yes, it's a prequel to the classic stage and movie musical Grease, and, yes, it's also a musical. (In case you are keeping score at home, that makes three original TV musicals in the past month alone, including the aforementioned Schmigadoon and the recently debuted Up Here on Hulu.) Set four years earlier—at Rydell High in 1954—the 10-episode series from writer Annabel Oakes (Minx) was originally ordered by HBO Max (under the name Grease: Rydell High) in 2019 but then shifted to Paramount+. Pink Ladies features a cast of mostly unknown young stars and original songs by Justin Tranter.
