According to early reviews, director Chris McKay (The LEGO Batman Movie, The Tomorrow War) strikes the right balance between comedy and horror with this tale of Dracula’s put-upon servant, Renfield (Nicholas Hoult). After centuries of fulfilling every request of his narcissistic, blood-sucking vampire boss (Nicolas Cage), Renfield is ready to break free, but The Prince of Darkness won’t let that happen easily. The draw here is Cage, who gets to bring all of his considerable charisma and skill to the role, but don’t underestimate the comedic skills of Hoult or the strong supporting cast of Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, and Shohreh Aghdashloo.
