William Asher

Biography: After co-directing Leather Gloves with Richard Quine in 1948, Asher kept busy working in television in the 1950s, including episodes of "I Love Lucy." He returned to theatrical features in 1957 with the crime film The Shadow On The Window and the science-fictioner The 27th Day. Asher is forever beloved for his series of mid 1960s "beach" comedies with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello for American International Pictures, most notably Beach Party, Beach Blanket Bingo, and How To Stuff A Wild Bikini. He went back to television in the late '60s, but has helmed such occasional features as the horror tale Butcher, Baker (Nightmare Maker) (aka Momma's Boy; Night Warning) and the Hollywood satire Movers And Shakers.
