Vonetta McGee
Biography: A glamorous, seductive black actress, onscreen from the late '60s, she played leads in a number of the black-oriented films of the early '70s, often in a decorative capacity. She was romantically involved with actor Max Julien, with whom she appeared in Thomasine and Bushrod (1974), a film package the two of them had put together; for a time, they were said to represent "the new black Hollywood." She had several notable roles in the latter half of the '70s, but by the end of the decade her screen career had dried up. In the '80s she appeared occasionally on TV.
