Biography: Vanessa Williams, AKA Vanessa A. Williams, has been acting professionally since she was 15 years old. She is highly trained in theatre, she dances, and she sings as well. She is sometimes confused with Vanessa L. (Lynne) Williams, the other famous African-American singer, dancer, actress, and first African-American Miss America. Vanessa is New York born and raised. She grew up in Brooklyn, in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area. Some sites list the year of her birth as 1962 and others list it as 1963. Her birth date is May 12.
