Val Guest
Biography: Guest became a scriptwriter for British films in the mid '30s, and began directing in 1942 with the short The Nose Has It. A slick director of comedies and thrillers, he showed a special affinity for horror and science fiction in the '50s and '60s, most notably The Quartermass Experiment (aka The Creeping Unknown), Quartermass II (aka Enemy from Space), The Day the Earth Caught Fire, and When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth, all of which he co-scripted.
