Robert Strauss

Biography: A burly stage and screen character actor and comedian, Strauss was the son of a theater costume designer. He first made an impression as an actor with his portrayal of Animal in the Broadway production of Stalag 17; he played the same role in the 1953 film version and was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Besides acting in many plays and films, he also appeared frequently on TV. His career was cut short by a stroke resulting in massive paralysis; his last film was Fort Utah (1967).
