Peter Shilton
Biography:
Peter Shilton is a retired football goalkeeper. His youth career was with Leicester City between 1963 and 1966. He then began his senior career with the same team in 1966 and it came to an end after 31 years in 1997. In his time Shilton played for 11 different club teams and even scored a goal with Leicester City in 1967.
His international career saw him make 13 appearances for the England under-23 team before going on to make a record 125 caps with the national team. In the quarter-finals of the 1986 World Cup, Shilton was on the receiving end of the "Hand of God" goal, an infamous incident where Diego Maradona handled the ball to score, a fatal event for England.
He married his wife Sue in 1970 but they split after 40 years together. They have two sons, Michael and Sam, the latter is currently a footballer playing as a defender/midfielder.
