Madge Kennedy
Biography: A stage actress as a teenager, Kennedy was discovered by producer Samuel Goldwyn and began acting in films in the late teens; in the '20s she appeared in his The Highest Bidder, but retired from films before the end of the decade. In 1952 she returned to the screen for George Cukor's The Marrying Kind, and over the next twenty years appeared in such notable films as Richard Brooks' The Catered Affair, Vincente Minnelli's Lust for Life, Cukor's Let's Make Love, Sydney Pollack's They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, and John Schlesinger's The Day of the Locust.
