Larry Gates
Biography: After attending the University of Minnesota, actor Larry Gates made his Broadway bow in 1939. In middle age, Gates was seen in numerous movie and TV productions, usually cast in mercantile or executive roles. His average-man demeanor and personality was put to good use in The Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), wherein Gates played "pod person" Dr. Dan Kaufmann. On television, Larry Gates spent several years in the role of H. B. Lewis on the CBS daytime drama The Guiding Light and was cast as President Herbert Hoover in the 1979 miniseries Backstairs at the White House.
