Kathryn Grayson
Biography: Born Zelma Kathryn Hedrick, she was a musical star with a florid coloratura soprano, well-endowed figure, pretty heart-shaped face, and a turned-up nose. In her teens she appeared as a singer on Eddie Cantors radio show, where she was heard by MGM scouts. She debuted onscreen in Andy Hardy's Private Secretary (1941) and went on to star in a number of lavish musical films of the '40s and early '50s; she also played straight roles. Grayson rarely appeared onscreen after 1953, but she did appear on the stage, in nightclubs, and on TV. She married and divorced actor John Shelton and singer/actor Johnny Johnston.
