From meger beginnings, to a hit TV show with over 5 million viewers, ranked 2nd, topped only by Judge Judy, He has turned out quite well.Born in Washington D.C. He was raised the only child of hardworking parents. As a young boy,they rellocated to South Central Los Angeles, then to the Crenshaw area.Always at the top of his classes,He graduated Dorsey High then went on to UCLA majoring in political science, later earning his law degree.Both of his parents were teachers so money was tight.Joe paid his own tuition by digging ditches and loading trucks. After moving to Memphis 1973,he worked in legal services, and the E.E.O.C. (equal employment opportunity commission) He was the first African-American Prosecuter in the City of Memphis.Recognized for his sincerity, passion and creative sentencing, He was elected Judge in 1990, Div.9 criminal court of Shelby county.He earned National recognition after being

Nowadays, He enjoys spending time with his new wife Deborah Herron Brown and 2 sons in their homes in Memphis and LA. He loves to ski and scuba dive ( cant get enough of those sharks, in and out of the water!) But he still spends many weekends in Memphis following up cases and teaching kids that edjucation is the only key to unlock cell doors.He is planning to run for Mayor in the next 3 years. -Whew!- Busy man with a heart of gold and the brains to match. So remember, if your a thug, dont try to get over on this man. He will make you pay and declare you pitiful as well!
