John Le Mesurier
Biography: A British character actor, onscreen in scores of films from 1948, he often played professional men -- barristers, doctors, fathers, officials -- in comedies; jut-jawed, he was a master of the quizzical, bewildered expression. He portrayed Sgt. Wilson in the popular, long-running British TV comedy series Dad's Army. He was married to actress Hattie Jacques.
