John Laurie
Biography: After working as an architect and stage actor, he debuted onscreen in 1930, going on to appear in a wide range of character roles in over 100 films (almost all British) over the next four-plus decades; he often portrayed angry or somber types. He was a regular on the BBC-TV series Dad's Army.
