Janet Blair
Biography: Blair was born Martha Janet Lafferty. At first a singer with a band, she began her film career with Columbia in Three Girls About Town (1941). A vivacious and perky redhead, her career peaked early; as the 1940s progressed, she got roles of less substance, until she gave up film altogether (with a few exceptions) after 1948. Blair then toured with the musical South Pacific and became a popular torch singer in nightclubs and on TV. In the early seventies, she appeared for one season with Henry Fonda in the TV series The Smith Family.
