James Hayter
Biography: A tubby, often comedic British character star, he began acting onstage in 1936, then made his screen debut the same year. He remained largely a stage actor until the late '40s, when he began appearing much more frequently in films; he was a busy screen actor through 1959, after which his screen work continued at a slower rate. He was frequently cast as a merry, congenial, amiable fellow, and appeared in many comedies.
