Jack Starrett
Biography: In the mid '60s he began appearing in low-budget biker films, for which he served a number of behind-the-scenes function; he began directing these films in 1969, then in the '70s branched out into various genres emphasizing rough action and violence. He occasionally appeared in the films he directed. He died of kidney failure at 52.
