Ian Richardson

Biography: Born in Edinburgh and educated in Glasgow, actor Ian Richardson was a regular of the British stage from the late '50s onward. His first notable work was with the Birmingham Rep in 1960. One year later, he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, where among his many thespian accomplishments he created the role of the Herald in Marat/Sade, an assignment he'd repeat for the 1967 film version. Richardson's television work has included the role of Sherlock Holmes in the 1983 British TV movies The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Sign of Four, and the role of real-life British turncoat Sir Anthony Blunt in the 1989 BBC presentation Blunt: The Fourth Man.
