Howard Duff
Biography: Howard Duff studied drama and had an apprenticeship with the Seattle Repertory Playhouse, then landed the role of detective Sam Spade on radio. He served in World War Two, then in 1947 debuted onscreen in Brute Force. After giving strong performances in supporting roles he started to get leads in action-oriented B-movies, usually playing a tough guy hero or cop. His wife is actress Ida Lupino, with whom he appeared in the late '50s TV series Mr. Adams and Eve. He later starred in the TV series Dante, Felony Squad, and Flamingo Road.
