Daniel Collopy

Biography: Daniel Collopy was born on February 1st 1978, which makes him a 26 year old aquarius. He originally lived in Melbourne but moved to Sydney in 4 days for the role of Josh West on the show Home and Away.

In school, Daniel was always involved in drama. His first musical was Les Miserables which was where he realized that acting was his passion and tailored his schooling to include studies in art, drama, music, media, theatre and graphics. After school he went to Swinburne University in Victoria to study graphic design, but after two years he deferred and started a career in radio. Daniel started working at a local youth radio station called HITSFM which he says was a great learning experience besides the 4 am starts. After hosting his own show on HITSFM he then transferred to TTFM (now called MIX) also in Victoria where he did promotional work for a year. When he was 19 he became the home game live on-ground announcer for a National Rugby League team called the Melbourne Storm. He played the character 'Danny Boy' for a full season. His job was to rev up the crowd during matches, and it soon became a much-loved part of the match.

When the season finished, Daniel did various jobs and scored a three-month stint on Neighbours playing Sean Edwards.

However, Home and Away was his first major acting gig, and it's obvious Daniel's enjoyed getting to know his character, Josh West.

Josh was a down-to-earth guy who visited Summer Bay to wind down after completing his HSC. He was preparing to go to university where he'd study law, but for the moment, he and his mates thought Summer Bay was the perfect place to hang out and surf before they embarked on their studies.
While his character has had time to relax in Summer Bay, Daniel's life hasn't been so restful. After being told on a Friday that he'd scored the role of Josh, he then received news that he had to start working the following Monday. So moving from Melbourne to Sydney was certainly an experience.

'Sydney is all new to me,' Daniel says as he reflects on his major move. 'But I am really enjoying it.'

He also says that working with the cast and crew has been an awesome experience.

'It is a fantastic opportunity to perform with such an established cast and crew. Everyone has been so welcoming.'

Daniel comes from a family of 10, consisting of his mum, dad, five brothers and two sisters. He is the youngest of his family. He also has a dog, Elle, a kelpie cross German shepherd.

When he's not working on set or location, Daniel still operates his graphic design business. He also loves music and says he used to play eight instruments at school, including the piano, drums and viola. Nowadays, however, he enjoys singing.

Daniel also enjoys skiing, rollerblading, swimming and running every day for exercise.

Daniel has since left Home and Away to persue his fashion career. However he still makes brief guest appearances as a stuck up business man from time to time.… Expand
