Dan Duryea

Biography: A character actor with a skinny frame and an arrogant look, he debuted on Broadway in 1935 after college and six years of work in advertising. Several years later he received rave reviews for his portrayal of the dangerous weakling Leo in the Broadway hit The Little Foxes, which led to his screen debut in the play's film version (1941). He went on to a very busy and successful screen career; from the start, he was typecast as a cynical, sneering bad guy who held great appeal for women. Besides appearing in 60 films, he also appeared in numerous TV dramas and costarred in the TV series China Smith and Peyton Place. He died of cancer.
