Clive Donner
Biography: Donner was an assistant editor while still a teenager, and in the '50s cut such memorable films as Scrooge (aka A Christmas Carol) and Genevieve. A director by 1957, he attracted attention with his Pinter adaptation The Caretaker (aka The Guest), but his real flair was for comedy, with his mid '60s films Nothing but the Best, What's New Pussycat?, and Luv. In the late '70s he turned his attentions to television, most notably with his Dickens adaptations of the early '80s starring George C. Scott, A Christmas Carol and Oliver Twist.
