Carmen Silvera

Biography: An actress who was beloved by her contemporaries and rose to fame in such British series as 'Allo, 'Allo! and Doctor Who, Toronto native Carmen Silvera became a fixture on the West End stage with her roles in You Only Live Twice, And Then There Were None, The Cemetery Club, and The Importance of Being Ernest. Though best known for her role in the WWII sitcom 'Allo, 'Allo!, Silvera's film credits include 1971's Clinic Exclusive, 1973's On the Game, and, later, La Passione (1997). Diagnosed with lung cancer in April 2002, Silvera decided to face her sickness without chemotherapy. Following a four-month struggle, Carmen Silvera died peacefully in Northwood, West London at the Denville Hall actor's retirement home. She was 80.
