Bob Clampett

Biography: As a child, Bob Clampett had a fascination with movie making and comedy. As he got older he soon found a job at Warner Bros. animating such cartoons as "Lady Play Your Mandolin" and "Pettin' in the Park." In 1937, producer, Leon Schlesinger moved him up to director with "Porky's Badtime Story." Clampett would go on to direct such Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies classics as "The Great Piggy Bank Robbery," "Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarfs," "What's Cookin' Doc?," "Porky in Wackyland," "The Big Snooze," and "The Daffy Doc." In 1946 he moved on and did a a few cartoons for Republic Pictures, including the Jerky Journeys series and "It's a Grand Old Nag" starring Charlie Horse. He also shortly worked at Columbia's animation department as a story editor. In 1949 he created one of the first children's programs to be broadcast on television, "Time for Beany" featuring Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent, Beany Boy, and Uncle Huffenpuff. This one proved to be highly successful even more so than his 1949 original!

Clampett will forever be remembered in history as one of the best and greatest animation directors of all time for his wonderfully wacky style and exaggerations.
