Barbara Britton
Biography: Born Barbara Brantingham Czukor, she went directly into Hollywood films from theater experience in college. Britton debuted onscreen in Secrets of the Wasteland (1941). Pleasantly pretty, vivacious, and popular, she played routine leads in many films from the mid '40s to the mid '50s, when she retired from the screen. She went on to do stage work on Broadway, in stock, and in dinner theater. Britton costarred with Richard Denning in the TV series Mr. and Mrs. North (1952); she appeared on the soap opera Date With Life, and was for several years the "Revlon girl" (a product spokesperson) on TV and in personal appearances and magazine ads, the "role" which made her most familiar to American audiences.
