Arthur Hiller

Biography: Hiller made a strong impression helming major '50s television shows such as Playhouse 90, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and Naked City. He began directing features in the late '50s, and has become a reliable if impersonal craftsman, ideal for putting across strong scripts by Paddy Chayefsky (The Americanization Of Emily, The Hospital) or Neil Simon (The Out Of Towners, Plaza Suite). Hiller's biggest commercial hit was Love Story. His recent comedies include The Lonely Guy and Outrageous Fortune.
