Alan Mowbray

Biography: A character actor who tended to appear in tuxes or butler outfits, Mowbray devoted himself to comedy later in his career. He moved to the U.S. from England in 1923. After appearing in numerous stage plays, he moved to Hollywood in 1931, becoming a busy (over 200 films) character actor. He often played pompous or eccentric Englishmen, or, occasionally, distinguished foreigners.
