This one of the best releases of 2024 and one of the best in Blackshaw’s uniformly excellent catalog. Truly, well worth the wait.

There are a number of lovely themes that repeat through “Unraveling In Your Hands”, though its central phase – an unrelenting, hypnotic stream of shivering strings, tiny flecks of light dazzling as you plunge deep into the repetition, while following a snaky melody through the thickets – is certainly unforgettable. The lucidity and beauty of this music feels hard-won, something to revere and cherish.
