    It's strictly old-school, in a good way. .... Streisand still sings like a dream. [Aug 2025, p.102]

While there's more obvious contrast between Streisand's voice and the gruff Bob Dylan on the standard "The Very Thought of You," there's a warm sweetness and even a little thrill to hearing the two musical titans come together.

Bob Dylan brings a smoothly elegant croon to Ray Noble's 1930s standard "The Very Thought Of You" one of his strongest ever vocal performances. Paul McCartney, meanwhile, largely plays second fiddle on the self-penned "My Valentine". [Aug 2025, p.37]

Asher steers The Secret Of Life toward familiar traditional-pop territory. The Placid setting brings out the politeness in Streisand's guests. [Aug 2025, p.76]

Less successful is spongy new song One Heart, One Voice, on which Streisand, Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey ladle up sickly sweet lyrics and vocal sprinkles about onto the bland whipped cream and jelly of a sub-Disney love trifle. .... Bob Dylan makes more effective conversational space for himself on the 1934 jazz standard The Very Thought of You – the five o’clock stubble of his devoted rasp leaning into her silky sass as a breezy harmonica blows a fresh dynamic through the old tune.
