Fourth album The Night Creeper is their most convincing statement yet, a buzzing set of doomy psych-rock songs with great hooks and punishing riffs.

Although they occasionally overindulge--the eight minutes of Slow Death are aptly titled--for the most part The Night Creeper is taut and dynamic.

If you've grown tired of the retro-metal sound of recent years, The Night Creeper is a good place to re-engage. Uncle Acid might not be sonic visionaries, but they're masters of their craft.

The record’s second half loses some immediacy, partly due to the hazy nine-minute epic Slow Death, but not enough to diminish the overall power.

Another epically conceived record from a cult hero who should be slaying arenas. [Oct 2015, p.95]

Overall this is a record that's as thrillingly dark and overwhelming as anything they've attempted to date. [Oct 2015, p.117]

Instead of searching for clues while flipping through pages, though, listeners must dig into the narrative of The Night Creeper through the album’s immersive, fuzzed out atmosphere.

It begins as stormy Sabbath-inflected psych, but later takes some knowing stylistic detours. [Oct 2015, p.84]

On this third album, his gnarly riffs and garage-level production are as unpolished and far-out as ever, but the element of surprise has turned into comforting familiarity. [5 Sep 2015, p.52]

As a result of their indulgence, The Night Creeper feels somewhat forced to be something it isn't. The mindset is far from what we heard on Vol. I and Blood Lust, although the ideas are the same. Recycling is good, however, 4 albums later it turned against them.

There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with The Night Creeper but if I want to listen to Master of Reality, I’m going to listen to the original.

While the artwork borders on the iconic and the concept is very much in sitting with the band’s oeuvre, musically, The Night Creeper is a sub-standard addition to the canon of one of the most promising bands in modern rock.
