OOIOO and Lightning Bolt both make adventurous, awe-inspiring music, and their split LP feels like a triumph for both acts.

Nothing about the complexity of OOIOO’s music stops the groove from, well, grooving. These cuts move and pulse and howl. .... If you like Lightning Bolt, it’s probably because it makes you happy. It runs as hard and fast as any music on the market, but in a fun way, not an exhausting one.

Fans of both groups can rejoice now that they have combined forces on a terrific new split release that brings out the best in both artists.

Lightning Bolt's Brian Chippendale and Brian Gibson unleash a set of five powerful tracks where their trademark drum and fuzz bass attack is more terra firma based than 00100's cosmic glide. That said, the addictive adrenalin rush they inject into tracks like "Wavers", "Cloud Core" and especially the more ritualistic sounding "Headless Horsefolk" suggests that both groups are spiritually entwined.
