    This is the work of a legitimately great vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter who hasn't fallen into a rut or lost the plot, and he and The Confuser are a joy to behold.

    Hitchcock is still at the peak of his powers, nearly sixty years on from The Soft Boys. ‘The Confuser’ is a testament to that, with each song bemusing and mystifying in their own unique way.
