Just a fun album, sit back, relax and thats it. Lil Yachty brings his goofy, fun personas and gives us some diverse and refreshing tracks from his previous mixtapes.

Coming from someone who was all aboard the hate train for this guy, I will say it exceeded my expectations although they weren't really high to begin with

Seems like Boat lost some of his lovable weirdness in this project and that makes him sound a little bit more generic than usual (with the exception of "Bring it Back" and one or two more songs), however his more poppy side flourishes and Yachty definitely surpasses Boat in this one. "Forever young", one of my personal favorites, shows that he can actually make a great pop song that doesn't have his character at the center of it all. I expected way more catchy hooks, and in that sense this project is inferior to the Lil Boat Mixtape. Lyrics are awful for the most part, but that was to be expected. Overall, not a bad project, dude may stick around for a while. Expand

The back half is full of heartbreak, happiness, and all things teenage life over some really good instrumentals varying from trap to reggae to ballads. It has arc. It has feeling. But for some reason, Yachty thought that bragging about himself, calling out haters, and trying to prove that he can rap (he shouldn’t so much) was more important than creating something focused and sincere.

Yes, he’s weird and he knows it. He’s wildly successful because of it rather than in spite of it. Teenage Emotions doesn’t have a defined aesthetic and feels like Yachty is still experimenting, and his refusal to rely on formulas is commendable for a 19-year-old overnight sensation.

The album's 70-minute length allows enough space for a bounty of mostly nondescript trap productions that support these simplistic boasts. In these tracks, Yachty sounds like he's going through a phase more than refining his individualism.
