‘Someday, Now’ is a departure but a truly successful one, full of sublime vocals and creative confidence.

While the slippery compressed horns and strings snaking through a few tracks feel a little over-sanitised, they do match the sense of unease in Pearson’s lyrics reflecting on loss and pain, like shadows subtly bleeding into her kaleidoscopic soundscape.

‘Someday, Now’ is a pretty perfect progression from ‘Return.’ It’s bolder, more individual, and, dare we say, more fun. Wonky indie-pop that’s built to soundtrack these strange days we find ourselves in.

The irresistible “It’s Mine Now” cheats tragedy by taking ownership; “Siren Song” finds its folkloric sea legs after flailing; “Grand Final” grabs the moment with jubilant pop panache. [Oct 2024, p.40]

This record shows an artist stretching out to fill space, refusing to settle for anything small. [Oct 2024, p.85]

Bright, nimble and eager, Someday, Now is a shape-shifting treat. [Dec 2024, p.108]

It establishes Pearson as an artist who's eager to experiment but in command of her musical identity.
