A voyage of rediscovery through terrain whose appeal remains undimmed by time and familiarity. He treats the blues with the respect it deserves, but he aims to have fun along the way, while proving that, at 80, he still has the voice – albeit an octave or so lower than in his early days – to make the material live again. It might not be essential, but it's not without merit. [Apr 2026, p.80]

The only issue with Somebody Tried To Sell Me A Bridge is that it’s so long that anyone other than the most devoted Morrison devotee will find it a bit of a slog. At 1 hour 20 minutes and 20 tracks, it could certainly do with some judicious editing.

The music is at its most interesting when it veers off at a tangent - the snappy organ fuelled Social Climbing Scene and the loping gait of the title track. [Mar 2026, p.104]

Largely an album of blues covers that isn't terrible just, well, perfunctory. [Apr 2026, p.84]
